About CII

The Containerization & Intermodal Institute (CII) was founded as a non-profit professional trade organization in 1960 when containerization was still very much in its infancy as a mode of shipping. CII established industry forums and seminars at which transportation professionals could learn about this new commercial phenomena known as the container. Topics covered everything from intermodalism, to container standards to how corner castings worked.

Today the container is everywhere – the foundational building block of a global economy. Likewise, CII has evolved. The core mission of the group continues to center on education. CII provides educational opportunities through existing programs and
initiatives, including educational outreach,
scholarships, and award programs.

For more information on CII activities, contact Barbara Yeninas, Executive Director, at (800) 231-8244
or e-mail info@containerization.org.
