Industry leaders on the U.S. West Coast have long requested that CII bring the prestigious Connie Awards to the region. Based on the overwhelming success and reception of the dinner on October 1, 2009, CII will now make the West Coast event an annual dinner.

James McKenna, President and CEO of the Pacific Maritime Association (PMA), and Robert McEllrath, President of the International Longshore & Warehouse Union (ILWU), were presented with Connie Awards by the CII at the first ever Connie dinner held on the West Coast last year.

On the East Coast, a record 350 people attended the Connie Luncheon honoring James E. Butcher, Chairman of Höegh Autoliners Inc., and to Evergreen’s Vice Group Chairman, Captain S.Y. Kuo at the Newark Club on December 7, 2009.
