Mission

The Containerization & Intermodal Institute (CII) is dedicated to providing educational opportunities for people interested in the intermodal container shipping industry. CII provides those opportunities for professionals in the transportation industry and the public through several programs. The CII Connie Award is presented every year to individuals that have contributed significantly to the intermodal transportation industry. The CII Scholarships are presented annually to deserving U.S. Merchant Marine Academy cadets to encourage a career in containerization. CII Events provide industry professionals a neutral forum for discussion of current industry issues.

CII supporters promote public awareness and education. They include ocean carriers, truckers, railroads, ports, terminals, forwarders, brokers, government agencies and educators. CII was founded in 1960.
