2025 Connie Award
Peter Tirschwell is vice president of the Journal of Commerce at S&P Global Market Intelligence. He is responsible for all content appearing in Journal of Commerce publications, websites, events, and other products. A career shipping and transportation journalist, Peter has been a reporter, West Coast bureau chief, editor-in-chief, and publisher of the Journal of Commerce in his 30-plus-year career with the company beginning in 1992. He is the founder and chair of the annual TPM conference in Long Beach, Calif., the world’s largest container shipping event, which marked its 25th edition this past March. He writes a regular column for the Journal of Commerce and has written frequently for the Wall Street Journal editorial page. He speaks regularly at industry events, has appeared frequently on CNBC, and is quoted often in mainstream business media including the BBC, The Wall Street Journal, The Financial Times, and The New York Times. Following a two-year stint in Singapore, Peter returned in August to New York, S&P Global’s headquarters city, where he will continue to lead the Journal of Commerce business.

2025 Lifetime Achievement Award
George Goldman was former president and CEO of the North America division of the French company - CMA CGM, a global leader in ocean shipping, logistics, and terminal operations, as well American President Lines (APL), the Group’s American flagship container shipping line.
George is an accomplished international shipping executive with more than 40 years of ocean liner and supply chain experience. Prior to joining CMA CGM, he held key leadership positions including Executive Chairman of Greenabl Shippers Association, the industry’s first cooperative procurement group committed to decarbonization, and President of ZIM American Integrated Shipping Services, USA. Prior to his time at ZIM, Goldman was at APL (and APL Logistics) for more than 25-years, in various senior executive roles in multiple international posts including Hong Kong, Singapore, and Shanghai.
George earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing and Cybernetic Systems from San Jose State University in San Jose, Calif., and attended executive managements courses at New York University in Manhattan, N.Y., and the University of Michigan. He currently serves on the board of directors for Greenabl Shippers Association, and previously as board member of Commercial Management Ltd (Hong Kong Liner Shipping Association), Chairman of the Transportation and Logistics Committee of the American Chamber of Commerce (Shanghai and Hong Kong), and former member of the Northwestern University Transportation Center Business Advisory Council. Known for his strategic vision and collaborative leadership style, Goldman fosters a culture of excellence within his teams, driving forward-thinking solutions.

With a focus on timely and current contributions, this award is not limited to industry leaders or groups that make ongoing contributions, but rather can be used to recognize entities (inside or outside of the industry) for a specific contribution that impacts the industry “right now.”
