Building on industry legacy to shape the future of intermodal logistics

Kendall P. Kellaway III is part of a rising generation of logistics professionals helping shape the future of intermodal transportation. As a Board Member of the Containerization & Intermodal Institute (CII) and Senior Vice President, Commercial at RoadOne IntermodaLogistics, Kendall plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of the intermodal and logistics industries. As Senior Vice President, Commercial at RoadOne IntermodaLogistics, the largest privately held drayage and intermodal logistics provider in the U.S., Kendall leads the company’s commercial and marketing strategy and oversees its national drayage brokerage division, ROLS.

With a strong foundation in the operational side of intermodal, Kendall has made it a priority to push for innovation while staying grounded in what works. “We’re at a point where legacy infrastructure and next-gen technology have to work together,” he says. “I’m focused on building commercial strategies that honor what’s made this industry resilient, while also making space for smarter, faster, and more collaborative solutions.”

Beyond RoadOne, Kendall is a co-founder of EDRAY, a destination management company focused on improving container flow through collaboration, and Kinimatic, an asset-light warehousing provider built to serve modern supply chain needs. He also advises several logistics technology companies working on everything from supply chain visibility to sustainable freight optimization.

Whether it’s through business leadership, entrepreneurship, or his role at CII, he continues to be a voice for progress, inclusion, and practical innovation in intermodal transportation. For Kendall, that future-focused investment is personal. Kendall brings a generational perspective to CII’s board—balancing experience gained through hands-on work in the field with a mindset shaped by the rapid changes in global logistics.

“This is an industry built on relationships, but it also thrives on reinvention,” he says. “Being part of CII allows me to be at the intersection of both.”

Within CII, Kendall serves on several key committees that support the Institute’s strategic growth and outreach, including the Website/Social/Marketing Committee, the Sponsorship Committee, and the Board Nominating Committee. His contributions help strengthen CII’s voice across the industry, grow its impact, and bring new leadership into the organization.

His involvement with CII is rooted in a respect for the industry’s history and a belief in the importance of mentorship and education.

“CII has always been about more than just recognition—it’s about investing in people,” Kendall says. “There’s real value in connecting industry veterans with emerging talent. I’m pleased to help carry that mission forward.”

He’s particularly passionate about helping young professionals find their path in the logistics space, especially those who might not have grown up in or around the industry.

“To anyone looking to build a career in this space, my advice is simple: show up, stay curious, and don’t be afraid to ask questions,” he says. “This is an industry that rewards hard work and problem solving. If you bring energy and take the time to understand the moving parts, there’s no limit to what you can do.”

With a career that spans operational leadership, tech innovation, and strategic advisory roles, Kendall brings a well-rounded and future-focused mindset to his work with CII. His contributions reflect a broader shift happening across the intermodal industry—one that values both experience and new ideas, and recognizes the need to build systems that are as resilient as they are forward-looking.

“The work we’re doing today here at CII is about ensuring this industry continues to grow stronger, smarter, and more connected,” Kendall says. “That’s the mission, and I’m proud to be part of it.”
